  Our Athens Area SHRM Chapter will be meeting Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Georgia Center.  Networking will begin at 5:30pm followed by dinner and presentation.

  Eric Proser will be speaking to our chapter regarding best practices to reduce workers' compensation claims. Mr. Proser will be covering the following areas:

  2. Drug Free Workplace Act (DFWPA)

  3. Post Offer Pre Employment Questionnaires 

  4. Safety enforcement and the safety misconduct defense

  5. Light Duty Return to Work policy and procedure

  6. Compulsory Return to Work

  7. Documentation and how it enables legal defenses to claims

  8. Questions and Hypos

   

  Eric Proser is an equity partner and the Workers' Compensation Department Head at Constangy, Brooks & Smith, a national labor and employment firmwhich now includes defense of workers' compensation in 8 states, and includes representation of employers, self-insureds, insurers and TPA's throughout all of Georgia. Eric has been successfully defending workers' compensation claims for over a decade, including litigation at administrative law hearings and through all levels of court, protection and pursuit of subrogation interests and pursuit of reimbursement from the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund. In addition to his litigation practice, Eric regularly advises employers and insurers on how to prevent or minimize exposure and claims, and on appropriate reserves. His philosophy is that open claims need successful litigation results or creative resolutions to become closed claims, and that doing so promptly and aggressively is the best approach. He has been a frequent lecturer at seminars and symposiums on a wide variety of workers' compensation topics, and speaks for approved continuing education credits for claims adjusters.
